What we like about Mondi Group: They offer a recyclable paper with barrier protection against water and grease. Good track record with environmental issues, particularly around water use in paper manufacturing.
Paper Carton (Aseptic)

Folding cartons are made from a sturdy, yet foldable board. Because it’s still relatively flexible, there are several printing options for a glossy or matte finish.

These paperboard boxes made from trees, which are a renewable resource. Paper is lightweight in shipping and these folding cartons can be engineered for structural stability with flat pack shipping. Paper is also easily recycled or composted (see Disposal).
For more transparent sourcing, suppliers may source paper that has an FSC certification. The paper and forest industry created FSC certifications to set standards like stricter restrictions on clear cuts and pesticide use.

The best afterlife for most paper products — from collateral to boxes — is recycling. Most paper fibers can be recycled more than five times. Paper with tape or stickers can still be recycled, because non-paper materials are sifted out in the recycling process.

Printed designs will match the finish of the paper. For a shiny finish, you’ll need to inquire about added coatings. Coatings may also be necessary if your packaging needs extra water resistance.
A glossy finish may be possible by using a glossy stock or an added coating.
Aegis Paper

We don’t have samples of this paper, but the coating offers puncture resistance and liquid resistance, so we assume that it’s slick to the touch and relatively thick. It can be used for various bag and sachet applications.

It’s not clear exactly what this barrier is made from, or if it’s completely plastic-free, but Mondi does claim that the Aegis Paper is recyclable. We’d assume that whatever the barrier is made from, it can be separated and sifted apart from the paper fibers in recycling.

We presume that this coating has a sheen, so the colors of your design will appear more vibrant than they would on matte paper.
Customers might think this is made solely of plastic or that it’s not recyclable, so make the recycling messaging clear and easy to find.
