RePack

RePack

🏭 Finland

What we like about RePack: They’re building a reusable packaging system using woven plastic mailers that are meant to be picked up or returned, then reused 20+ times by brands and customers. This cuts down on the need for single use packaging that ends up in the bin,

Woven PP Mailers

Made from Recycled PP (polypropylene) made from post-consumer waste. Designed to be reused hundreds of times as part of a closed loop system available in parts of Europe and the US.

  • Woven PP is thick and durable, similar to the feeling of a tarp. It closes with a velcro strip. After the product is inside, the mailer is sealed by the shipping label.

  • It’s unclear what percentage of the mailer is made from recycled plastic, but it’s good that some of it is made using plastic waste.

Since these are designed to be reused, they use much more material than traditional plastic mailers. If these end up in the trash, all that material goes to waste. But with proper tracking and upkeep, ideally these mailers stay in the RePack system and get used dozens of times, eliminating hundreds of mailers from ending up in landfills.

  • These mailers are not meant to be disposed. Instead, consumers should check with RePack to see what their options are for dropoff or pickup.

  • Right now, it seems that RePack only offers a stock selection of bag sizes which are preprinted with RePack branding and instructions.
