What we like about PaperFoam: A unique alternative to molded paper, PaperFoam is made from a blend of potato starch and natural fibers.

Starch Trays

Compostable, made from potato starch and a mix of natural fibers.

  • PaperFoam has a starchy cushiony texture. It’s rigid, but not hard, similar to molded paper.

  • PaperFoam is made from renewable resources, with no plastic additives. These trays can be designed to nest which makes for more efficient shipping than block foam inserts.

  • PaperFoam is recyclable and home compostable.

In general, paper’s ideal end of life is recycling so that the fibers can be used a few more times before being sifted out of circulation. But it’s unclear if PaperFoam’s fibers are long enough to be recycled.

Either way, there’s no harm in tossing PaperFoam in the recycling bin with paper, as it will dissolve in the slurry and not cause any contamination. It can also be composted in home setups.

    PaperFoam’s disposal certifications:

    • EN13432

    • ASTMD6868

    • Vinçotte OK Compost

    • Vinçotte OK Home Compost

    • UL Validated: 99% recovery rate of available fibers.

  • Paper foam takes well to dyeing with colors across the spectrum. You also have the option to add designs or branding within the mold of your tray for an emboss or deboss effect.
